About the Authors
YC Chew is an author and lifelong storyteller with a love for stories that make ordinary moments feel a little more extraordinary. Alongside his busy academic career at Taylor’s University Malaysia, he is also an author of both academic publications and fictional works. Drawing inspiration from Korean culture, contemporary life, travel, and the unexpected ways people find connection, he writes light-hearted K-Novels filled with romance, humour, warmth, and plenty of heart. As founder of YC Publishing, YC believes enjoyable stories should also be accessible. His novels are written in clear, contemporary English for readers around the world—including those who simply want a relaxing, feel-good read without overly complicated language. When he isn't writing, YC is an educator, researcher, musician, and enthusiastic traveller who is always collecting new places, conversations, and little moments that might one day find their way into a story.
Cheryl Chew is a PhD candidate in Monash University Malaysia, an author, Korean speaker, and the cultural eye behind YC Publishing’s K-Novels. With an extensive knowledge of Korean culture and a keen instinct for what is happening in Korea now, she brings an authentic contemporary touch to the stories she co-creates—from everyday expressions and social habits to food, fashion, places, pop culture, and emerging trends. A natural trend-spotter, Cheryl is constantly tuned in to the changing rhythms of Korean life, helping MYTaleOn’s fictional world feel current, relatable, and distinctly Korean rather than simply inspired by K-dramas. Her love of storytelling combines with this cultural insight to create warm, youthful stories filled with romance, humour, memorable moments, and a little Seoul magic.
